Rules: You will be able to give me items to auction, however i receive 10% of the profit, for storage and safekeeping. aside from that, its simple. Each week there will be a couple days holding an auction. each auction will have 3-4 items for auctions.as an example, i have a stack of torches, starting at 10c, players will rise their pay. item goes to highest bidder, simple. - Yoda5212

If you ever need some more of those buckets o' lava to build other brick structures, let me know! - I've got like 6+ buckets left and 90+ blocks of iron I can turn into buckets...
Awesome to see that you constructed the building that quickly! I'll have to go look at it.

Yoda: I think you did a fantastic job on the building and have done a bang up job initiating a positive thing to the server. Here's some observations from me: The date and time, was done well, except for that whole time zone bugger. You did an excellent job otherwise in letting people know. You are too nice. You were run roughshod over. When you are running the auction, you need to be firm. Make certain a moderator is there until people get the rules/behavior down. Set guidelines. Such as: If you have items you would like to auction, notify yoda and he will assign you a number. When your number is called, you bring your items to him for the sale. When an item is being auctioned: No extra chat. State your bid in the format Bid: 20 If you are not interested in the item: No Bid This allows yoda to be able to see the bids clearly. The currency is coal. We have a bank and a banker that does loans and possibly conversions. Get with the banker to allow folks to have coal on hand. (AskRobert is perfectly anal retentive enough to be the banker) Trades when a sale is complete: The winning bidder approaches the left gate to receive the item and pay. This item needs to be separate enough that no one else can edge up and pick up the items. Anyone TP'ing into the auctioneers area without authorization, gets a 24 hour ban. It is against policy to tp to someone without permission. In an auction setting, this rule must be obeyed 100%. Otherwise, the integrity of the sale is at risk. Yoda: you are one little toon. If I may also suggest that it takes two to do an auction. One to handle the sale items and auctioning, and one to do the actual trading. I think someone like AskRobert would make an excellent choice for the second person. He is already our banker, and as such has already been entrusted with a tremendous amount of goods. Besides, he's rich as Midas, so what/why would he steal? As for the participants: Show some respect. Be orderly. Be patient. Be nice. Yoda is trying! As it was, when there was actual auctioning going on, it was rather fun. There needs to be an end time as well, as you left rather abruptly and several folks were left hanging. I've not really had to be mean yet. But I was pretty disappointed at some of the behavior I saw. I know how hard Yoda works and I did not feel like he was being shown the respect he deserves. Yes, this is a game, we are here to have a good time, but if that good time is at the cost of another persons hard work, or feelings, then it isn't a good time at all. If I can help you in any way, Yoda, please let me know. I make a pretty good enforcer.

Anyone TP'ing into the auctioneers area without authorization, gets a 24 hour ban. It is against policy to tp to someone without permission. In an auction setting, this rule must be obeyed 100%. Otherwise, the integrity of the sale is at risk. This is the first thing that caught my eye most. The first day we were going to do the auction, I joined the server at 6:40 PM (PST) - The auction started at 6:00. Someone said "TP Him here" and I was warped there (not saying by whom, but they were just following an order by a friend). This should be the main priority before the auction. - Tell everyone that wants to attend to /tp to you, and if there are regular players that CAN'T tp, ask if they want to attend - and THEN warp them there. This way people that want to attend will be there, rather than people that were 1/2 done with mining out diamond and were warped into the room. When an item is being auctioned: No extra chat. State your bid in the format Bid: 20 If you are not interested in the item: No Bid This allows yoda to be able to see the bids clearly. I agree with this 100%. While there was a bid going on for vines, no base price was wet. I just said "1 coal!" - Nobody else bid (So, technically, I should have gotten vines... Right?) But because it wasn't enough, I didn't receive them. - Also, halfway through the trades people were saying "3 IRON BLOCKS!", or "LEATHERS" - Wanting to sell things, and not bidding actual coal (currency). - If this was more organized, more trades could easily be completed. The currency is coal. We have a bank and a banker that does loans and possibly conversions. Get with the banker to allow folks to have coal on hand. (AskRobert is perfectly anal retentive enough to be the banker) Haha. I would gladly help out with loans and storage for the auction house's staff and participants. - I have about 3000 coal in the chest at the moment (It slightly dwindled), but after the new server is up this afternoon, I'll make sure to go dig up some more so I have plenty. (After the backup, I found a cave with at least 33 coal and 15 iron - with a mineshaft under it with more) - So I should have enough goods to lend by tonight or tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions about that. Asidefrom prices and management... There is one major thing that needs to be addressed. As far as this goes: I've not really had to be mean yet. AndAs for the participants: Show some respect. Be orderly. Be patient. Be nice. Yoda is trying! Respect is the main priority in the server. - Whether it be serious things like griefing into someone's home, or even just replanting a tree, there's rules telling you to do it. With the auctions, people attempt to advertise (even in all caps-lock - as I saw when I attended the auction) WHILE a trade is going on. - It's disrespectful for both the auctioneer AND the people that want to buy things. My opinion: Have a board on the wall outside of the auction room, or in the auction room itself. Players can make a sign saying their name, item, amount, and price on each of the sign's lines, and players can check the board to find out what is being sold. This will prevent chat spam, and if people are interested in what you're selling BEFORE the auction starts - they can be ready to bid when it comes up. (or they can make an early bid to raise the starter Bid: 20, to say, Bid: 50) On that note: The bank's upper floor has two boards - one to advertise goods, and one to advertise jobs. You can place advertisements there and organize a trade with the bank or with the auction house if you want to buy it from them with a middle-man. Lastly - if anyone needs middleman services (Each meet me and do the trade in front of me for video or screenshot proof the trade went through successfully), let me know. - Often I am not working on a big project, and I'll sit there seeing if anyone needs items or help (since i have so many materials.) If you are REALLY nervous they might rip you off, one of you can toss me the coal (say, 64.) and the other can toss me one diamond (value of 64 coal, apparently.) - I can take a screenshot of the items right then, and then hand you each your payments - so if you feel uneasy you can have someone trustworthy to go to. (and like Aunt said - I don't need your diamonds and coal ;D) Overall, great suggestions and feedback, Aunt. - This is just my two-cents on the situation and some compliments on your post. -sigh- You're right, too... I'm pretty anal when it comes to money... ;P -Robert

In rereading our posts (I refuse to have a life) I would like to point out to Yoda, that obviously, there are folks here that really, really appreciate what you have done and how hard you have worked. I hope you don't read anything in these posts that might suggest otherwise.
I'm quite proud of what you have accomplished and am willing to help you in any way you see fit.

Auntbeast- thanks for the 101 commpliments-
But, on another subject, i think people viewed the auction house as a shop, but people said how much they wanted to pay for the item. And well, this wasn't exactly what i was trying to aim for. I hope that the players that show up for the next auction, follow these rules, taht are officially 100% percent placed into the auctioning system. I would appreciate people just taking it seriously while the auction takes place. One of the biggest things that i hated about that first auction, was that it wasn't organized. People didn't actually focus on: do i really want to raise that bid? it was more like: watch this, i can get to where he's standing. And everyone that takes part in the auction, i will ask them to read every reply on this thread.
Robert- You are more then welcome to help me out with the auctioning, i could really use the help. -Yoda5212
